Antique Japanese Sword Wakizashi Unsigned Kinbo with NBTHK Certificate

【Description】

According to NBTHK that authenticated this blade, this blade was forged by a swordsmith who belonged to Kinbou school.
This school was founded in the 1520s and started to flourish in the late Muromachi Period(1570s). We believe this blade was created in the late Muromachi period(about 450 years ago)

There were five famous sword-forging schools/traditions in Japan, whose name came from the region. Those are Yamato-DEN, Bizen-DEN, Soshu-DEN, Mino-DEN, and Yamashiro-DEN.

Kinbo school was one of Yamato-DEN sword school. They forged swords in the Yamato region(Nara prefecture today). It is said that they made blades for Sohei, Buddist warrior monks in the area during the warring state period called SENGOKU JIDAI.

Please keep in mind that there are a few black rust spots on this blade. They are mainly located on the tip(Kissaki area). And there are also Kitae Kizu(scar marks because of the insufficient tempering)
