What is Gunbai?

Gunbai was carried by military generals of Samurai armies in Samurai period. It was used to direct his troops during battles and also showed a rank of Samurai. There are various forms of Gunbai. It is normally made of wood. This gunbai has its certificate issued by The Association for the Research and Preservation of Japanese Helmets and Armor, one of the most trusted Samurai armor appraisers.The certificate states it was made in the Edo period.
