Firstly, please look at the Mikomi (見込み, inner part of the vessel). The plate itself is a color close to ivory, and plants are drawn using mainly red paint and green and purple paint. Gold paint is used here and there, giving this plate a glamorous look. The basket is filled with so many plants that it overflows with soft brushstrokes, and the edge of the dish is also decorated with plant motifs.
Next, please focus on the Kouen (口縁, rim) part. Some parts have a color that looks like soot buildup, making it difficult to see the original coloring. However, we could see traces of the edges being painted with gold paint. Even the Koudai (高台, a stand attached to the bottom of a container) is decorated with a geometric pattern. Since this plate is highly decorative overall, it is suitable for its original practical use for serving food and for displaying as interior decoration.
