Description
This item is a set of three Japanese pottery dishes of different sizes. The plates have a common design: a flower basket is drawn on the bottom, and the sides have multiple botanical and geometric patterns on both the inside and outside. The main coloring is vermilion on a white base, with various other colors such as blue, green, and brown applied.
Gold coloring is also effectively used in some areas, creating a sense of luxury. The gorgeous appearance of these plates makes them suitable for celebratory meals. Additionally, because these dishes are highly decorative, you could enjoy them as interior decorations.
One of the flowers designed on these dishes is the Kiku (菊, chrysanthemum). A long time ago, chrysanthemums were used as medicine for obtaining a long life in the continent, and it was brought to Japan with this thought in the Nara period (648-781). The chrysanthemum symbolizes fall, and people have greatly appreciated it since ancient times. As its petals form radially, the chrysanthemum has been likened to the sun. That is why this flower pattern is treated as the symbol of perpetual youth and longevity or good health.
