Mokkou shape, its base form was eggs in nests. After that, as a cross-section of Mokkou looks similar to this design, it was named Mokkou shape. Yotsu-Mokkou is a combination of four Mokkou shape. There are also Futatsu-Mokkou (two Mokkou) and Mitsu-Mokkou (three Mokkou). Branches and leaves are designed with the Sukashi-Bori technique (openwork). During the refining stage of lacquer, it&#8217;s mixed with iron. These flowers might be Kikyou (Japanese bellflower), which was once used to tell one&#8217;s fortune (\u5409\u51f6, Kikkyou). According to a theory, it&#8217;s the origin of this flower&#8217;s name.
