\n\u00a0Fuchi Kashira was made of copper. Karakusa (arabesque) pattern decorates these items. Karakusa means climbing plants (ivy) in Japanese. Ivy has vitality, and it thrives strongly; therefore, this plant pattern represents prosperity and longevity. Circle-shaped and diamond-shaped designs might be family crests. In Japan, each family has their family crest. Many Samurai loved to put their family crests to their armor or arms to show (or proving) their lineage or family.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 If you focus on the upper left of Kashira, you will find a kind of bird that spreads its wings. It might be a crane. A Japanese proverb says cranes live a long life, even one thousand years; therefore, it has been considered the symbol of longevity since ancient times.
