\u00a0This portable celebratory dining set\u2014used for weddings, New Year outings, and hanami (\u82b1\u898b)\u2014comprises a four-tier jubako (\u91cd\u7bb1), two metal tokkuri (\u5fb3\u5229, a vessel used primarily for pouring sake), a red sakazuki (\u76c3, shallow, footed sake cup), a serving tray (\u76c6, Bon), a small accessory box, and a carrying rack sagej\u016b (\u63d0\u91cd); wood-core pieces are finished in black lacquer with Makie (\u8494\u7d75) technique. It is a typical Japanese lacquer art technique developed uniquely in Japan for about 1,200 years. Firstly, it needs to draw a picture with lacquer on the surface with a thin brush. Next, sprinkle the gold powder from above to show the pattern before the lacquer hardens. This technique makes a gorgeous and elegant look to works, as seen here. <\/span><\/p>\n

The design is the classic akikusa-mon (\u79cb\u8349\u6587) that flows continuously across all faces: susuki pampas grass (\u8584\/\u8292) signals the autumn harvest, resilience, and prayers for a bountiful household; hagi bush clover (\u8429)\u2014one of the Seven Autumn Flowers (\u79cb\u306e\u4e03\u8349)\u2014conveys graceful humility, steadfast love, and perseverance; kiku chrysanthemum (\u83ca) is an imperial emblem of longevity, purity, and rejuvenation; stylized garden kaki\/ kakine fences evoke an elegant estate, order, and protection of good fortune within. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0Together these auspicious plants and fences form a seasonal landscape that celebrates abundance and long life, making the set both highly functional banquet ware and a refined expression of Japanese craftsmanship and symbolism.<\/span><\/p>\n
