The ornament on Kabuto is generally called Tatemono(\u7acb\u7269), which also was a symbol of the wearer\u2019s authority or dignity. The famous feudal clan, Ii family used Tentsuki design as their symbol mark in battles fields to identify their army from enemies. It is highly likely that this helmet is related to Ii family from Hikone area(Saga prefecture).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-4478 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.samuraimuseum.jp\/shop\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/OG108387-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"270\" height=\"404\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #008080;\">Armor<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u25a0Do(Cuirass):<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">Gold leaf\/Black lacquered iron riveted Okegawa Do laced with navy blue<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">Instead of using a large number of small lamellar plates called Kozane, This cuirass used large rectangular shaped iron plates riveted.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">The name Okegawa came from the fact that the shape of this cuirass resembles the side(Gawa in Japanese) of Oke(Japanese wooden tub).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u25a0Sode(Shoulder guards): There is no shoulder guard<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u25a0Kusazuri:Gold leaf lacquered iron Kusazuri laced with navy blue thread<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Kusazuri is a skirt of plates attached to the cuirass<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-4478 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.samuraimuseum.jp\/shop\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/OG108383-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"270\" height=\"404\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #008080;\">Small parts<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u25a0Kote(Armored sleeves): Intricate iron chain mail with silk and the hand guard is coated with lacquer<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u25a0Haidate(thigh protection) :\u3000The same structure as the cuirass. There are gold leaf arrow designs.
