\u3010Description\u3011<\/strong><\/span>
\n\u00a0The first generation of Kanenori(\u5305\u5247\uff09was the son of father Kanenori(\u517c\u5247), a famous swordsmith from Mino province. He first forged in Mino province and then moved to Fukui prefecture serving Asakura clan.<\/span><\/p>\n

This sword was forged by the second generation Kanenori. There was a record where he forged swords for Tokugawa clan in the battle of Sekigahara.<\/span><\/p>\n

The swords made by him were known as Wazamono, which means a high-quality sharp sword. Wakizashi was the secondly sword Samurai carried while Katana worked a primary sword.<\/span><\/p>\n

This sword has a Tokubetsu Hozon certificate issued by NBTHK. This authentication paper was only given to Japanese swords, especially worth preserving by Nihon Bijutsu Touken Hozon Kyokai(the Society for the Preservation of the Japan Art Sword).<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0This Fuchi Kashira describes elements of Inekari (\u7a32\u5208\u308a, rice reaping). Rice is an important food for Japanese people; therefore, it has been valued as a treasure. In autumn, there is a custom harvesting the first rice and offering it to the gods in appreciation of crops of rice. So, rice farming was one of the original forms of Japanese religious belief. The rice pattern has been used based on the wishes for plentiful harvest and wealth.\u00a0<\/span>

Tsuka and Menuki<\/strong><\/span>\uff1aTsuka is the handle of the Japanese sword and Menuki is its decoration.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0This menuki is made of Shakudo and its design is bow, which was one of the primary weapons for Samurai. Gold\/Silver inlay are applied.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0The arrow pattern was favorably used by Samurai, and this pattern also has been designed for Kimono (traditional Japanese costume), especially for boys. It is because parents of boys wished their children grow up strong to become brave Samurai. Moreover, people believe the arrow pattern would protect them evil spirits; it is treated as a talisman.<\/span>

Tsuba and Habaki<\/strong><\/span>\uff1aTsuba is the handguard for the Japanese Sword and Habaki is the equipment to make the blade not touch its scabbard inside. It prevents the blade from getting rusty and chipped.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0NBTHK, also known as Nihon Bijutsu Touken Hozon Kyokai (the Society for the Preservation of the Japan Art Sword), is one of the oldest Japanese sword appraising organizations in modern-day Japan. They authenticated the blade on May 23th in the third year of Heisei(1991). They appraised it as Tokubetsu Hozon Touken, the blade especially worth preserving for Japanese society.
