\n\u00a0This item is the Kouro (\u9999\u7089, incense burner). We estimate that the gold plating is applied to the copper made incense burner. The Houou (\u9cf3\u51f0, Fenghuang) is the model of this work. It has an elegant figure with a dignified appearance. Houou is a member of four fantasy animals, which is called the Shirei (\u56db\u970a) with Kirin (\u9e92\u9e9f, Qilin), Kame (\u4e80, turtle), and Ryu (\u9f8d, dragon), and it is a god beast looks like a combination of chicken and peacock. There are differences in how they are depicted on the continent and in Japan. In Japan, their appearance is that of a chicken with the head and beak, the neck of a snake, the front of the body as a Qilin, the back as a deer, the back as a turtle, the jaw as a swallow, and the tail is believed to be a fish. In ancient times, the Houou was considered an auspicious sign on the continent. It was believed that the Houou would appear when the brilliant emperor appeared. People appreciate its graceful shape in Japan.<\/span><\/p>\n
