Title: Hukeiga Kouro<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Description<\/strong><\/span>
\n\u00a0This item is the Kouro (\u9999\u7089, incense burner). It is a tool used for heating solid fragrances and releasing aroma components. We think this Kouro is porcelain, and it has a metal lid. The Hukeiga (\u98a8\u666f\u753b, landscape) is depicted for this item and gorgeously colored with several paintings. Green, red, yellow, and brown are effectively used for coloring. You see a small building hidden by rocks, and trees grow around it. These trees seem to be willow and pine trees. On the other side, you would find a Japanese apricot and bamboo grasses are depicted. In Japan, there is a popular auspicious pattern called the Shou Chiku Bai (\u677e\u7af9\u6885). It is a combination of pine tree, bamboo, and Japanese apricot blossom. As mentioned above, these plants are designed in this work. This good omen motif might have inspired this Kouro’s design.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
