The surface is Tetsusabiji style, which only applied lacquer for paint base for the iron not to get rusty. It looks less shiny than normal lacquered surface.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u25a0Shikoro(side neck guard):<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">Black lacquered iron plates laced with navy blue<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u25a0Menpo(face guard):Iron mask with mustache made of horse tail hair.<\/span><br \/>\nThis type of Menpo(Faceguard) is called Retsusei Menpo(\u70c8\u52e2\u9762\u982c) It represents the angry face to intimidate enemies.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u25a0Madate(Front decoration): Kurikara Ken(\u5036\u5229\u4f3d\u7f85\u5263)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Kurikara-Ken (\u5036\u5229\u4f3d\u7f85\u5263) is the sword that Fudo Myo-O (\u4e0d\u52d5\u660e\u738b, acalan\u0101tha) holds with his right hand. Fudo Myo-O is one of the objects of worship in Buddhism. According to a theory, it is the incarnation of Dainichi Nyorai (\u5927\u65e5\u5982\u6765, Mah\u0101vairocana, the principal image of esoteric Buddhism). Kurikara-ken was named due to its appearance that Kurikara Ryu-O (\u5036\u5229\u4f3d\u7f85\u9f8d\u738b, dragon) is winding around the sword. It is believed Kurikara-Ken could cut off worldly desires: Sandoku (\u4e09\u6bd2). Gomai Do was named after the fact that Gomai means five plates, and Do means torso in Japanese. This part can be separated into five pieces and connected with a hinge. Tokubetsu Kicho Shiryo means an especially precious cultural article. It is ranked as a third highest of five rankings.
