\u3010Description\u3011<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Omi no Kami Fujiwara Tsuguhiro(\u8fd1\u6c5f\u5b88\u85e4\u539f\u7d99\u5e83) is an apprentice of the third-gen Yasutsugu(\u5eb7\u7d99). His master, Yasutusu, was one of the most famous swordsmiths in Echizen province during the early Edo Period(1661-1673).
\nThe master Yasutsu\u2019s metalwork technique was so great that Ieyasu Tokugawa allowed him to engrave Mitsuba Aoi(a family crest of the Tokugawa family) on his forged blades.<\/p>\n

Yasutsugu belonged to Shimosaka school, originally founded in Shimosaka town in Shiga prefecture at the end of the Muromachi period. And the school moved to Echizen city(Fukui prefecture) at the beginning of the Edo period. Yasutsugu engraved the title \u201c\u8fd1\u6c5f\u5b88(Omi no Kami),\u201d and his maker\u2019s name \u201c\u85e4\u539f\u7d99\u5e83(Fujiwara Tsuguhiro)\u201d on the front. And he inscribed where he lived \u201c\u8d8a\u524d\u4f4f(Living in Echizen)\u201don the back. There was also a record where Tsuguhiro forged swords in Edo city after leaving Echizen province.<\/p>\n

Echizen Province was famous for forging razor-sharp, practically-designed swords. The Edo government, run by Tokugawa clan, ordered many blades from the swordsmiths in this province during the Edo period(1603-1868). In Echizen province, there were so many swordsmiths originally from the Mino province(Gifu prefecture), which is known as one of the five great Japanese sword styles MINO-DEN.This blade reflects on the excellent metalwork skill Tsuguhiro had. The condition of the blade is superb.<\/p>\n

The blade is appraised as Tokubetsu Hozon certificate issued by NBTHK. This authentication paper was only given to Japanese swords, especially worth preserving by Nihon Bijutsu Touken Hozon Kyokai(the Society for the Preservation of the Japan Art Sword).<\/p>\n

Authentication Paper<\/strong><\/span>\uff1aNBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon Certificate for the blade<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0NBTHK<\/a><\/span><\/span>, also known as Nihon Bijutsu Touken Hozon Kyokai (the Society for the Preservation of the Japan Art Sword), is one of the oldest Japanese sword appraising organizations in modern-day Japan. They authenticated the blade on August 28th in the second year of Reiwa(2020). They appraised it as Tokubetsu Hozon Touken, the blade especially worth preserving for Japanese society. The purchaser will receive this original certificate as well. To legally export the sword from Japan to other countries, we will have to apply for its permit to the Agency for Cultural Affairs(Bunkacho) and return the original registration paper to the Board of Education.
