Yoshinari Kakazu, the fashion designer of AineRy, has a base in Okinawa, Japan.

Ryukyu Ai has been grown in Okinawa for centuries and used as dying material. These indigo leaves were essential to make traditional Okinawan textiles. Its cultivation method is so severe that cultivation maintenance skill, the technique to grow high-quality leaf indigo, tough stamina and mental strength are required to withstand the heavy labor in the cultivation management. \nItsu means five, and Yo means four. That’s why the Itsuyo-Mimi pattern is a combination of five and four dots. The word Itsuyo also means eternity. Because of its pronunciation, this stitch is woven into the Obi(belt). It was a common gift from women to men, wishing that “their love lasts forever.”<\/p>\n
