Tachi(太刀)

TACHI typically refers to a longer, more curved sword than other Japanese swords though there were some exceptions. An armored Samurai on horseback often used it during the Heian period (794-1185 A.D.) -the beginning of the Muromachi period (1336 to 1392 A.D.). TACHI was suspended loosely on the left waist with its edge facing the ground so that you could draw it faster to cut down soldiers on the ground.

In general, TACHI is older than the other types of swords. The magnificent beauty of the curvature of those swords is more prominent. Back in the day, Samurai admired their swords and believed there was a divine spirit that lived in the swords and protects them.
Now, all the antique Japanese swords are regarded as pieces of artwork and are allowed to export overseas unless they are national treasures. So many people are enthusiastic about Japanese swords worldwide. Please check our collection below.
